AMP-MSCCS Battle on the River Results May 5th
MSCCS Release
GREENVILLE, MISSISSIPPI MAY 4----2005 MSCCS champion David Breazeale has proven to be quite the "gumbo" connoisseur lately.
After the Four Corners, Mississippi racer scored a SUPR win in the Lone Star State a couple weeks ago on a "gumbo" style clay track... Breazeale once again showed that he has developed a particular taste for the sticky substance referred to as "gumbo clay".
Breazeale knocked down his first MSCCS win of 2007 in an event also co-hosted by the AMP series on friday night in front of one the largest crowds assembled at Mississippi's Greenville Speedway.
Breazeale's MSCCS/AMP win was worth $2,000 as the MSCCS has seen five different winners in five different races thus far in 2007.
Trailing Breazeale to the stripe was Louisiana's David Ashley, Scott Slay, Dean Carpenter and Johhny Lancaster of Coldwater, Mississippi.
The evening began with suspect track conditions after an evening shower drenched the Mississippi Delta facility. The normal track surface was turned into a virtual gumbo soup but Speedway officials made the decision to go ahead with the scheduled event in lieu of the muddy environment.
The heavy gumbo clay indeed took it's toll on the MSCCS/AMP field. Less than 10 contestants were able to finish the full 40 laps in the attrition filled race.
At the outset, Chris Wall nailed the lead from his front row start over polesitter Breazeale while David Ashley and Doug Showah battled close behind. Bub McCool then made his presence known by surpassing both Ashley and Showah into third as Greg Fore began mixing it up with Johhny Lancaster within the top five.
Wall's night began a downhill turn when he attempted to lap the #16 of Mike Poyner. Wall pulled to the outside of Poyner only to have Poyner slide up the track. Wall was forced to take an off track excursion which brought out a caution.
Wall was flagged to the rear as Breazeale inherited the point for the first time of the night. Back underway McCool started to apply some pressure to Breazeale while Showah and Fore began to duke it out for third with Ashley and Scott Slay in tow.
Terry Henson began to dispay his "gumbo" experience as the Little Rock, Arkansas ace moved into the top ten despite suffering from two broken ribs he recieved the previous week at Greenville. Eventually Henson had to call it a night and retired early in the event.
With Breazeale keeping the lead all to himself, the heavy gumbo clay now began to take it's toll on both man and machine. Chris Wall steered pitside when he lost power on his #71. Second running Bub McCool saw his hopes of a top finish go down the drain in the form of a broken axle. Showah also pitted with problems as well as Fore who relinquished his runner up spot after his engine lost oil pressue.
Ashley, who had his rear spoiler removed after contact with another car kept his #14 runnning strong....strong enough to earn a runner up finish behind a high flying Breazeale who took the win by several car lengths. Following Ashley in third was Slay who was back in his GRT ride. Dean Carpenter emerged with a outstanding fourth place finish after starting 14th on the grid while Lancaster swept a top five showing after fiercely battling Carpenter during the waining laps. Arkansas racer Clay Fisher was the top finishing AMP series regular as he posted sixth overall.
Sponsors on Breazeale's #54 Voodoo Motorsports MasterSbilt are Creel Brothers Racing, J&J Motorsports, Xtreme graphics, Stuckey Enterprises, American Race Tires and is powered by a Wall to Wall Performance engine.
26 MSCCS/AMP Super Late Models were on hand for time trials at the west Mississippi oval as Chris Wall turned quick time of the night.
B-main winners were Slay and Lancaster. Breazeale won the 6 lap "Dash for Cash" and was the pole winner as well.
A "missing man" formation was utilized on the parade lap prior to the MSCCS/AMP main event in memory of Arkansas Late Model veteran, Kenneth Mitcham who lost his life following an accident at Greenville Speedway last Saturday night.

AMP-MSCCS By: WINONA, MISSISSIPPI MAY 5----Kosciusko's Anthony Rushing is back!
Rushing, who is no stranger to victory lane in the Magnolia State emerged from a 2007 special event winless streak after the Super Late Model driver took his first MSCCS victory of the season Saturday night in his potent #701/2 Jay Dickens powered Huddle House, O.H. Hendricks Sheetmetal Rocket.
Rushing took a $2,500 win at his old stomping grounds of Central Mississippi Speedway in a MSCCS/AMP sanctioned event.
Chasing Rushing the distance and taking home a stout second place finish was Meridian's Jim McDuffie. McDuffie, who is piloting a MasterSbilt race car for the first time of his career also nailed a runner up finish at CMS one week prior to Saturday's 50 lapper.
It was a positive weekend for Clinton Mississippi's Scott Slay who put forth another third place run after scoring a top three finish at Greenville Speedway on friday.
Four Corners, Mississippi ace David Breazeale drove his Voodoo Motorsports #54 to a strong fourth place finish at CMS. The previous night Breazeale captured his first MSCCS win of 2007 on a rain soaked Greenville Speedway.
Alabama's Justin McRee soared to one of his best MSCCS finishes ever at CMS as the young driver scored a top five run in fifth.
The highest finishing AMP series driver was Joesph Long. The Bryant, Arkansas ace flew from his 20th starting position and picked up a tenth place showing in his John R. Nelson sponsored #37.

April, 30, 2007
We gather in honor of a lost companion, fighting for freedoms race to the end. Helping in faith with blessed wings, racing now before angelic friends divine.
A heavenly track just waiting for his speed, victories lanes lit with fine golden trophies. Honored friendships this life he devoted, a scorch of rubber on dirt tracks wide turns.
Not a day of darkness, but joyous light, his race has given his wings full delight. Bringing a peace within our hearts embrace, a pleasure to have known this graceful soul.
Lining up now with others gone before him, sweet glazed roads that are ever so golden. A sweet smile upon his face, as Dale Earnhart, shakes his hand, and says “Let’s Race“.
We will miss his wondrous passion, as we look to see an empty place. One day before long just remember, that we will watch this heavenly race...
A loss our friends will feel with sadness, as truth hits our hearts with a blunt force. Praise God for his fire and passions burn, for we will see him in each our own turn.
No difference in NASCAR or DIRT TRACK, on heavens raceway of delight. Just one large race for them all, Standing to cheer his victory...!
In memory and dedication to Strong Arkansas, Kenneth Mitcham #18 he will be terribly missed.

The Day Motor Sports AMP Series presented by American Racer (Arkansas Motorsport Professionals) is pleased to announce the addition of a rookie of the year program for all rookie members on the 2007 tour.
President & owner Christy Hudson along with co director Mike McNay had discussed the ROTY scenario, but have not been focused on a planned program for the first season until phone's started ringing and racers started showing signs of wanting the new series to have a rookie program. The initial thought of rookie of the year was to wait it out the first season and head into the second season with a good solid rookie program.
"We felt that everyone's a rookie on the series the first season," Hudson said.
"This has now turned into a positive effect on the current members of the series. With so many members to the series, we felt it was needed to assure the racers a positive feed for jumping in and help keep the series moving along, not only for the series but for the promoters and fans they will compete in front of each night the teams race."
The rookie program will help new racers strive to challenge themselves and set their goals to be competitive while racing with AMP. Track promoters have opened the door for the series with their cooperative efforts on scheduling dates. AMP wants to help the younger late model drivers put on a good show, along with the already-knowledgeable veterans.
"If we help the promoters of this state and let the fans witness the late model racing that our state can provide to them, we all win, businesses in Arkansas, track owners, the racers and the largest fan base in Arkansas," said Hudson.
AMP is honored to be touring in their home state of Arkansas and look forward to visiting with other track promoters around the edge of the state.
To be eligible for the AMP State Series a member must provide the following information by May 15, 2007.

64 Speedway scratches AMP it Up Tour Dates for 2007 Campaign
Alexander, AR (April 13) - The Day Motorsports Arkansas Motorsports Professional Series presented by American Racer or "AMP Series" regrettably will have to cancel all its dates involving the 64 Speedway in Augusta for the 2007 racing campaign.
"When the schedule was being formulated last year, track owner, Danny Harris and I agreed on a tenative date every six weeks. Just before season started, that was trimmed back to three race nights. When current promoter, Garland Cannon took over day-to-day operations, it left us with a void that we will now need to fill. There are no hard feelings and we wish Mr. Cannon and 64 Speedway the best in 2007 and beyond" commented series director Christy Hudson.
Cannon replied with "I made a decision to pay the extra money to our regular drivers that support us on a weekly basis. I know the AMP Late Models put on a great show, but I think I owe it to my regular drivers to support them."

H & K Racing Team Hottinger Victorious at Riverside 4-9-07 Russellville, AR
The H & K Racing Team of Dewaine Hottinger and Jon Kirby headed out to the Batesville Speedway on Friday to race with the SUPR late model series.
Despite the frigid temperatures, a good field of 33 cars turned out for the event. The night didn't start to well for Kirby, as he was spun out in his heat and suffered cosmetic damage to the right rear of the car. Unfortunately, Jon was unable to get back to the front in his heat race. The "B" feature showed some promise as Jon started from the rear and made his way up to 4th, with a really fast hot rod. But, the laps wound down too soon, and Kirby was unable to qualify for the main event.
Although unable to make the event, Kirby made great gains with his car and ended the night on a solid note.
Hottinger appeared to just have an average car in his heat, starting 5th, and falling back to 6th. But on the last lap, he edged passed Dane Dacus from Memphis to take the 4th spot.
Though not very spectacular, the effort was just enough to earn Hottinger a 16th starting position in the "A" Feature. The team viewed this as an opportunity to try a few things with their setup. The beginning of the race was a little shaky, as Dewaine fell back a few spots.
But, as the tires heated up, he was able to make his way back around a few cars and finish in the 15th position.
The Team was scheduled to race with the SUPR series again on Saturday night, but the race was cancelled due to the arctic air. So, while Jon Kirby elected to make the trip back to Russellville, Hottinger and gang decided to ease over to the Riverside Speedway in Wes t Memphis, with Dewaine having never seen the track. At the end of the night, it would prove to have been a good decison.
With slick and slimy track conditions, Dewaine started from the pole in his heat race, finishing second to Dean Carpenter from Mississippi. However, the track officials found Carpenter to be illegal in post race inspection. This handed the heat win over to Hottinger, and landed him a pole starting position in the feature race.
The feature race went very well for Dewaine, as he led all 20 laps with a straightaway lead at one point. Despite the efforts and front nose of Johnny Lancaster, and the late outside charge from Jamie Dacus, Hottinger was able to hold on for the victory. The win is Dewaine's first of the year.
The H & K Racing Team will be back in action next weekend with the AMP series at the Bebee Speedway on Friday, and I-30 Speedway on Saturday.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Camel 1 Racing crew for their support over the weekend.

Team GRT sweetens the pot for AMP top qualifiers
March 29, 2007 By: Jason King
With the numerous contingency awards already in place for the popular AMP late model series, GRT founder Joe Garrison has also made grabbing the top qualifying spot for a Day Motor Sports AMP feature worth $100 more to the lucky racers who win opening heats throughout the 2007 season.
Team GRT will be sponsoring the Top Qualifier Award for all AMP events in 2007, with a $100 gift certificate good for any service or product carried at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
There is not a serious late model fan in existence that has not heard of GRT, a company whose chassis are driven all over the country, including the nation’s premier late model series. Senoia, Georgia driver Clint Smith is currently the points leader of the Dirt 360 series, racing against some of the most successful drivers in late model history.
Team GRT is more than just a manufacturer, carrying everything from tear-offs to shocks. Garrison believes that AMP is not just good for racers and fans across the state, but to his company and stable of racers as well.
“I think it’s great,” Garrison told AMP. “It is something that this state has needed for a while, that’s for sure. Nobody else seemed willing to step up and start something, so we are proud to be on board with the AMP series. Another reason for us is to help our GRT customers to ensure their continued success.”
AMP series director Christy Hudson says Garrison’s help goes far beyond a top-qualifier sponsorship. In fact, he was one of the first persons contacted by Ms. Hudson when she started putting the series together last fall.
“Mr. Garrison has been a great help over the past six months,” Hudson said. “His knowledge of the sport has been very helpful with the forming of this series. I am not only excited to have the support of Team GRT, but also the drivers that participate in this series. There’s no doubt that this raises the scale for our shows.”
GRT had the strongest showing of all builders in the AMP debut at Crawford County Speedway. Eight of the total 18 entries piloted a GRT chassis, with drivers Will Vaught, Jon Mitchell, Dewaine Hottinger, Joe Long and Jon Kirby completing a Team GRT sweep of the top-five finishers.

Larry Shaw rewards ‘hard chargers’ in AMP events
The Day Motor Sports AMP Super Late Model Series is happy to have Larry Shaw Race Cars as a sponsor for the hard charger award at all AMP events this season. The Batesville-based chassis manufacturer and their involvement with Arkansas’ newest late model racing series further expands the company’s already stellar legacy in racing across the state.
The first hard charger award didn’t wind up too far from home, with Billy Moyer Jr. claiming the award during the season debut at Crawford County Speedway in early March. Moyer Jr. started 15th on the grid of 18 cars, but fought his way to a solid sixth-place finish by race’s end. Moyer will be presented the award at the next AMP event in Beebe on April 13.
The award for hard charger gives a $100 gift certificate from Larry Shaw to the driver that advances the most positions from their original starting spot. AMP series co director Mike McNay says support with contingency awards assures better payout throughout the field.
"Shaw racing really stepped up to the plate for us," McNay said. "Awards like hard charger are a great benefit to racers, so that it is not just the winner of the race that is being recognized for a strong performance. That’s not to mention the prize that will help them with their racing endeavors."
Harrisburg’s Charlie Cole and Justin Brawner from Wynne represented Shaw at the series opener at CCS with Shaw chassis. Cole had to start dead last in 18th after trouble in the heats, but worked his way up to a 13th place finish.
You can catch Cole, Brawner, and other up-and-coming drivers, along with seasoned late model veterans at Beebe Speedway on April 13 and the following night at I-30 Speedway for the next two Day Motor Sports AMP Late Model Series presented by American Racer tires.

The Day Motor Sports AMP late model series presented by American Racer is pleased to announce "Ken Wagner of Momar Chemicals" as event sponsor for the April 14 show at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas along with being the "Official Hand Sanitizer of the AMP Series" and contrubitor to the season ending points fund awards banquet..
'We are proud to have "Momar Chemicals as our Official Hand Sanitizer" for AMP Series 'said series founder Christy Hudson. We wanted a non-flammable hand sanitizer that can be used around pit equipment and would not cause damage to skin.
Its obviously visible that racing will bring dirt and grime to each person a racer has contact with on race days. We want to help racers kill germs that are endured from racing habits and help keep them all healthy with a hand sanitizer that has been proven to a success. Momar Chemicals has a natural fit with the AMP series and we are proud to have them and we look forward to a long relationship with them.'
Momar supplies everything from water treatments to mosquito repellents to industries in over 600 countries. In all, Momar has over 3,000 products, including the popular LuBest brand gear lubricant.
“My job is to solve your problems,” says Ken Wagner, regional vice-president of sales for Momar. “We want to give you a better product at a better price. If there is something you need that you currently cannot find, we may be able to solve it by creating a new product.” Development is part of the Momar creed. The company is designed towards developing products for customers that have been discovered by filling the void of an oil or cleaner that didn’t exist in the specific state needed.
Wagner is no stranger to dirt track racing. He grew up working in the concession stand at 34 raceways in Burlington, Iowa starting at the age of 15. Wagner says the upcoming AMP events will be a good way for him to return to the world of local racing, something he has not been able to do in almost two decades.
The relationship between AMP and Momar started with series founder Christy Hudson’s search for a safe hand sanitizer for AMP drivers. Wagner had the answer with 99+, a non- alcoholic, non-flammable hand sanitizer that can be used around pit equipment without the worry of a hazardous situation. AMP has since enlisted 99+ as the official hand sanitizer of the series.
Wagner says he looks forward to talking to the AMP driver at the show on April 14, and welcomes any feedback to current or possible future Momar products. You can view the list of quality products from Momar at their website, www.momar.com , and also be sure to visit the AMP website at www.ampseries.com .

Here's a link to the recent Dirt Nation radio interview with the AMP Series. Please give it a couple of minutes to load (depending on your connection speed):
With the launch of the Day Motor Sports AMP Late Model Series at Crawford County Speedway on March 10, a new era for late model racing will begin in the state of Arkansas. Along with drivers and fans, the men behind the title sponsorship will be on hand to witness local racing history being made.
American Racer Tire Engineer, Scott McAdoo and Day Motor Sports' General Manager, Wayne Harris will both be at the series opener at CCS, and will both bring a long tradition of racing excellence to represent with them.
Day Motor Sports is one of the country's leading distributors of racing products and parts, from factory stocks to late models. The partnership with the AMP Series will allow Day to further promote its ever-growing list of late model accessories to drivers and builders.
"We are designed to offer our customers one-stop shopping," Harris said. "We want help the driver build his or her car from the ground up. Our relationship with AMP will help us utilize distribution of our late model products, as well as expand that product offering."
American Racer tires started out as the McCreary Tire and Rubber Company in 1915 in Indiana, Pennsylvania. The McCreary Tire Company built a long reputation for quality American workmanship as it grew into a provider of premium products for commodity type bias ply passenger, light truck and medium truck tires for the automotive aftermarket.
As the company and the country grew, its specializations changed and, fittingly enough, so did its name. In 1992 it took on the name Specialty Tires of America and, in 1994 the American Racer name was introduced to market the wide variety of quality racing tires produced in the McCreary tradition of excellence. Today, American Racer Tires from Race Tires America are fast becoming the choice for racers all across America.
Harris' plan is to attend at least four AMP events this season, with emphasis on making contact with every driver on the series tour. Along with feedback on the American Racer tire, Harris also wants to help the drivers with any suggestions they may have in expanding the product offering available from Day Motor Sports.
The company was founded by in 1971, and purchased by Dan Hamilton in 2000, giving Day Motor Sports over 36 years of experience in the racing industry.
"We buy products in large volumes allowing us to offer quality products at reasonable prices to our customer base," Harris explained. "Most of our staff is currently or has been involved with racing at some point in their lives. This gives us the ability to put ourselves in the racer's position, and help them to determine what they need for their application. I guess it would be fair to say that we are racers working for racers."

Seventeen year old Clay Fisher joins AMP State Series
Clay Fisher out of Dewitt Arkansas started making plans late October 2006 to race in 2007 with the new coming series. Fisher has been racing for 6 years and will be in his orange and white #99 Rayburn, powered by CMS racing. The Fisher team is past ready for the series to start up with very few strings to be tied up to be ready for the inaugural season opener at Crawford County Speedway. Clay is a full time student at Dewitt High School. He spends his time outside of school with his father and working for the family owned business, Fisher Trucking.
His family came from a line of racing started from his father Clifford, lining up boats in his past. He started out in four wheelers, advanced to cart racing while talking to family and friends about racing the real cars. At a very young age he made no qualms about his future intentions. He liked speed, he loved competition and he simply wanted to race. Clay was offered a hot lap session from Dad and family friend Wayne Skinner, in the “#7 Late Model out of Stuttgart Arkansas”, after the races one night at Greenville Mississippi. His hot lap session started and Clay blistered the track with the newfound speed never before experienced.
Being around 15 years old, car owners Clifford Fisher & Wayne Skinner, picked up on Clay’s desire to race. Believing in young Fisher, father and Skinner placed him in the #7 late model at Greenville Mississippi. While not telling his mother there was speed on the horizon that coming weekend, mom was stunned to find young Fisher setting behind the wheel of the #7 Late Model on arrival at the track. “How fast does that thing go?” was his mother’s first reactions. After assuring mom the car would go only between 50 to 55 mph mom set out to watch her son on pins and needles to see him blister the track at Greenville Mississippi Speedway. This is where his racing career was started. Fisher looks forward to racing the amp series and testing new tracks, finding new friends and picking up fans in his home state. Fisher believes AMP is on the rise and he wants to be part of the new series and help support the racing in his home state.
He has raced in Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana and has raced with SUPR as they made rounds in Little Rock, AR. He wanted to extend his thanks to his parents Clifford and Karen, sister, Megan and extends a special thanks to his long time friend & crew chief, Allen Creech for all help and support in keeping his car making it to each race he attends. Clifford Fisher Trucking, Fisher Trucking and CMS race engines in Smackover, Arkansas.

Race fans for 35 years have witnessed the skill & driving style of Potter, and once again fans will see the track hugging action of his car.
Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas is where Potter calls home for his racing pleasure. His most memorable moment came when he won 2 different features at Riverside. With every good memory gained, your have scariest moments inserted along the way. His came at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock Arkansas. A triple end over end flip topped off with 2 barrel rolls off the track will forever be etched in his and his fans memories
While Potter is a diesel mechanic throughout the week, since 1972 he has got the full support of his family behind him when taking the wheel on the weekend. Starting out in 6 cylinder class in at I-30 Speedway, he finished 2nd in points. In his 5th year he moved up to Late Models. AMP Welcomes Paducah, Kentucky’s Jeff Glisson #12
Day Motorsports AMP presented by American Racer is opening arms to Jeff Glisson. Glisson take the tracks in a #12 Black & White Masterbilt late model, with an engine by Russell Baker. His hometown track is Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway. He has touched the oval in a limited late model & late model during his 8 year racing career.
Glisson stated, "Racing the World 100 at Eldora in 2005 was the most memorial moment I have. The magnitude of the race, the speed of the track & the overall experience of being part of something so big was incredible. The track is the fastest I have ever been on, said Glisson giving me a visual of amazement comparable to a child see the shinny new bike for the first time. The over all event will forever stay with him because that track was nothing like he had ever been on.
The weekly prep work to put Jeff at the wheel is accomplished by pit crew of Brett Gibbs & Jim Murphy. He is also supported proudly by his Mother and took this opportunity to acknowledge it. "My Mother is my biggest supporter, and I wish to thank her for that. She is one of the best moral & race supporters I have, along with his wife of 2 years, Lisa, and all his fans at his hometown track at KLMS.
Today’s Homes, SGRE, Inc., & Prowler sponsor Glisson, his Associate sponsor is Oval craft. We wish Jeff luck in the 2007 year as he pilots his car to the checkered flag this season.
Dewaine Hottinger onboard with AMP 2-14-2007
Dewaine Hottinger in the #65 GRT by Frye with an engine built by Hatfield Racing Engines will take the tracks this year competing with other drivers in the inaugural year of the AMP Series.
Dewaine has raced in street stocks in 1996 if you can call it racing in the class. Within a matter of weeks he was upgrading to late model because he wanted to go faster. In 1996 he won the late model championship at Centerville Speedway. He has remained in this class since.
In his hometown of Russellville Arkansas, his orange & white late model is a big part of his family, along with his wife of 17 years in June, Lisa, a daughter Heather and his father, Doug. He is hoping that a touring series in state & close surrounding areas will enable his mother to see him race more. Traveling is hard & it interferes when you're tied from Friday night until late Sunday evening. Being an Electrical Contractor the scheduling can be difficult.
He believes that a series for late models is what Arkansas has needed. "It will take the drivers getting behind the series to making it work" he said, "If you don't have members then all the planning in the world will do no good", when asked what his thoughts of AMP. His favorite tracks are Batesville & West Plains. He also raced at Eldora for the Dream in 2006. It was by far the fastest track he has raced on. Wishing he had met Bill Frye when he first started racing was on his mind during the interview. "Bill is a down to earth, real life person that loves racing. It don't matter if you drive a late model or a hobby stock, he will discuss racing with anyone. I have learned immeasurable amounts of knowledge from him in the 5 to 6 years I have known him."
The most outstanding moment is his career was in 2002 as he prepared run the Topless 100 at Batesville. With a good setup, driving experience & track conditions on his side he was able to make the field and secure one of the 90 spots. That was the most incredible feeling in the world to me. Out of all the cars there I made the top 90. We were extremely happy with that event.
Doug Electrical Services Inc., Hott Graphics, Keathley Patterson, Kirby Specialties Corp., K.P. Electric's in Conway AR and Steve Smith Country sponsor Dewaine. His pit crew is his father, Doug, along with Cal & Geoffrey. We wish Dewaine and his crew much luck in the 2007 season.
Kyle Beard geared up and ready for Day Motor Sport AMP State Series with Arkansas Motors Sport Professionals
2-13-07 Alexander, Arkansas
Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas started making plans late October of 2006 to join membership with the new and upcoming AMP State Series. Beard is prepared and ready to join forces with friends that are all geared up for the upcoming inaugural AMP State Series Opener scheduled at Crawford County Speedway, March 10th 2007. Beard will be piloting the red 86 GRT by Frye late model, powered by Ronnie Samuel performance. Beard, a 20, year old, business owner has a few things on his mind for Saturday nights in Arkansas this season. His plans are to spending it with his father/crew chief Gary Beard, the man Kyle repeatedly asked "Dad can I race your car". Kyle followed his dads racing, watching and learning from him. While his thoughts were on going as he wanted the team to end up as a father and son duo "Team Beard", on race nights. Days down the road after trying his needs for speed in classes such as hobby stock, mini stock, pure stock and front wheel drive, his desire was found with the force of speed behind the wheel of a late model that will run with the amp series this season. He mentions his favorite tracks to race on has been Tunica and Columbus Speedway but leaves the options open to find a new favorite while racing this year with the series. Beard stated, "The extensive mileage of the previous year’s traveling prevented his mother from traveling to see him race". He hopes with the amp series being within the perimeters of the state with a few races close to the outlying borders, his mother will be able to join the rest of the family in a true "family affair" of weekend warriors.
Kyle looks forward to spending time with his family & friends who help keep his racing moving each and every weekend on race nights. His most special moments are, getting his first race car and setting in the seat and racing the first time, making a 50 lap event against many outstanding drivers, finishing second & third each season in points. Kyle, awaits that first Championship in which he wants to accomplish in due time. Beard stated,’ I want to start by giving thanks to God for allowing me to do the things in my life I am able to do. He gives a big thank you to his mother & father for all the learning and support and things he has been taught in his life. He sends thanks to all of his friends that help him make it to the track on race nights.
2-13-2007
The Day Motorsports AMP series presented by American Racer welcomes Mark "T-Bone" Shaw. He kicks off the 2007-racing season, diving into unknown waters with the new AMP State series. He will be at the wheel of the #91 black & white Warrior latemodel with an engine by Marion Performance.
Shaw's plans for the 2007 season are racing, working when he has to, and spending time at Cliff Carter's Body Shop in West Memphis, Arkansas. He prefers racing at the wide track layout of Augusta Speedway
He feels that AMP will help bring late model racing back to Arkansas on a weekly basis. The level of competition and variety of tracks will be an asset to all the participating drivers. It will make us better and improve the chances of a regular showing for our future as drivers & the hard core, true dirt track race fans. I want to thank all the fans that support us that watch racing, and the tracks with their promoters for allowing us this opportunity with more choices of surfaces to run our cars.
His most memorial moment came when he hit the wall & flipped down the front stretch of Harrisburg Raceway in an old stock car. One thing his fans have seen is flipping on the average of every 2 years. We're hoping 2007 won't be one of the years. His funniest time is going to Memphis to race & running late with Cliff. They ran 85-90 mph all the was to Fraiser stopping to gas & grab a drink As they entered the lot they bounced through a small dip in the lot, stopped and got ready to head to Riverside. Pulling back out into traffic the soon realized their load was lightened. Looking back they had driven off, leaving the car & trailer in the lot. When we bounced the trailer came off the ball, it had not been hitched on the entire trip. "We just drove away, leaving our stuff in the parking lot", he stated with a chuckle. Since it all turned out good they can now laugh at what would've been a potentially dangerous mistake. With the speeds traveled & amount of weekend traffic we were very lucky.
His biggest supporters are the closest ones to him, being his wife of 17 years Tammy with is son, Randy. He also has his private wingman by his side, 5 year old grandson, Brent. He is showing all the signs of racing in the future. Weekend "races" are held in the back yard with competitive 4wheeler vs golf car between Shaw & his grandson. All racing is taken seriously and includes flags and a flagman. "He is very aggressive, he has flipped me hitting the back of the 4 wheeler & then almost ran me over with the golf car when we traded rides, he jokingly stated.
He is sponsored by Cliff Carter's Body Shop, John Roberts All State insurance, Marion Towing, Marion Performance and Scott Hagar Snap on Tools.
Shaw said 64 Speedway is his home track.

Terry Thedford of Indianola Mississippi can be found driving the yellow #90 late model with his 2007 Swartz Chassis by Audie Swartz.. Terry's car is powered with the 410 SB2 Chevrolet built be Hendren's Racing Engines of Rutherton NC.
Terry has been racing for approximately 27 years, He navigated a limited late model is his first season, winning his first race he entered and also won the point championship the same year, with both accomplishments occurring at Greenville Speedway. The following year he went to a late model and has stayed there. Between his love of speed in his racecars & his employment as an aircraft mechanic, this driver feels the wind in his hair.
In 1990-1992 Terry found himself racing in Australia on the 3-month USA vs. Australian tour. A friend called his shop laughing to rib Terry about sending in an application to race in Australian from a racing magazine he was looking at. He said " hold on, I will be there in 15 minutes". Two weeks later the team was told he was first alternate on the tour if they should need one. They blew it off and joked about it, while chalking the whole thing up to daydreaming. In a couple of months he was shocked to find his father received a call wanting to know how fast he could get there. In 3 blurry days, He was catapulted from Louisiana working on the tugboats to racing in another country. Some more memorable tracks in Terry's career are Boot Hill, Chatham, & Delta bowl. He likes bigger ovals because of the high speeds obtained on the dirt tracks.
In Terry's closing statements of the interview he believes AMP will provide the late model fans of Arkansas the first class racing that once was in abundance here. He looks forward to seeing his fans & hopefully making new fans, while running as many races as possible with AMP. " I want to invite my fans out to watch the races, be sure to stop by my trailer, introduce yourself and if children are in tow seeking autographs they are more than welcome to come to our trailer", Terry said.
"I want to send very special thanks to my Dad, Audie Swartz, He is the driving force behind me that makes all this possible along with my sponsors. Dad has been there since day 1 beside me without fail. Without him & my sponsors none of this would be possible for me to do".
Terry's sponsors are Deltaland.net, Krocker farms, Thedford Aero and G & C Enterprises of Decanter Ill.

1/17/2007 AMP press release for Joe Long, by Jason King
Joe Long AMPs it up in 2007 Joe Long from Bryant, Arkansas joins the AMP State Series late model tour during its inaugural season in 2007 driving the H & N Racing late model. Joe is teammates with Terry Henson, driver of the U2 late model, who is also slated to appear on the AMP tour full-time. Long has been racing since 1999 in a variety of classes. He has powered dwarfs, hobby-stock, street stocks, modifies & late models, making his move to the late model division last season. During his rookie year at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas, he wrapped up the rookie of the year in hobby stocks to begin his trail of driving experiences. In 2000 he found himself points champion of the hobby stock division at I-30. Long is looking forward to racing a variety of tracks during the 2007 season. Being exposed to several surfaces and racing conditions, along with challenges from many different types of drivers are the major reasons he is looking forward to traveling with AMP. "All of my major accomplishments in racing have been at I-30,” Long said. "I love the idea of being close to home, yet being able to travel at an affordable price. We could not do this if it were not so money friendly to drivers and teams. My family and I look forward to traveling and with AMP. We will be able to travel more this year than in the past with the schedule the way it is set up.” His biggest thanks goes to his wife, Sarah, who is behind him 110 percent. He stated that without her, he could not compete in the sport he loves. Also he is proud to acknowledge his 10-year-old son, Jonathan as his pit "man". Joe enjoys working on cars as much as driving them, and from the looks of things, Jonathan will be wearing Dad's racing shoes in the near future with the same enthusiasm. Long extends special thanks to his sponsors of the number 37 late model. He stressed recognition to Terry Henson, Johnny Nelson & their families for giving him the opportunity to race in the late model division. His sponsors include H & N Racing, Fatboy Motorsports, Johnny R. Nelson Inc. Trucking & Excavating, Tammy & Mike Grimes, Bath Shoppe, Lanny's Flow Service, Scott Turner Construction, Moonlight Graphix and Mid State Golf Cars. With the upstart of the AMP State Series late model tour this coming race season, a new opportunity has surfaced for the state’s young, up and coming late model drivers, and 23- year-old Charlie Cole of Harrisburg, Ark., plans to use that opportunity to the maximum in 2007. Cole has committed to running the entire season with the Arkansas Motorsport Professionals State Series next year. It will be his seventh full year behind the wheel of a late model, after beginning his career in go-carts in 1997 at the age of 14. After running an outlaw-style schedule for the past several years, Cole is looking forward to competing for the AMP series title, and running closer to home after running in a number of regional events for the past few seasons. “I’ve always wanted to run in a series, I just couldn’t afford it,” Cole said. “The late models have gone away in Arkansas some, and it’s up to us to bring them back. I am completely unsponsored, so everywhere I go and race comes out of my own pocket.” For a driver without adequate sponsorship, Cole has proven to be a worthy competitor to teams with much bigger budgets. He qualified for a number of SUPR events in ’06, finishing in the top-five in all but one event. He also qualified for the Cow Patty Classic in his first full year in a late model, finishing 11th in a field of over 40 cars. Cole is still searching for that elusive first super late model win, but is excited about his chances with the new series. Out of all the tracks on the AMP State Series tour, Southwest Arkansas Speedway is the only circuit where Cole has not taken any laps in one division or another. He has seen action at I- 30, Beebe and 64 speedways in a modified, and lists I-30 Speedway as his favorite track. “I am looking at this as an opportunity to get my name out there and race in front of a wider audience,” Cole said. “AMP wants to help late model racers in the state have a place to go, and I am glad that I will be a part of it in 2007.” Keep your eye on the young driver from Harrisburg. Cole, along with the other drivers on the AMP tour will give Arkansas late model fans a lot to cheer for in the coming years. The AMP series is proud to have drivers of Cole’s caliber joining the tour, and we look forward to bringing these stars to your local track in 2007 and beyond.

Contingency Connection Teams Up With AMP Series The Arkansas Motorsport Professionals late model series is proud to be one of only 60 tracks/series in the nation to be partnered up with the Contingency Connection. The Contingency Connection is in its 13th season of series marketing, with a concentration on the weekly grass-roots driver.
The primary function of the Contingency Connection is to help tracks and series build support, with marketing programs that draw attention and additional sponsorships, along with their impressive guarantee of $50,000 in posted contingency awards.
“We are simply a marketing arm for series and tracks,” says Jackie Ressa, president of JRB Marketing, Contingency Connection’s parent company. “The awards and money in racing typically go to drivers in high-profile series, but our plan has the grass-roots racer in mind. We have an elite group of tracks and series that are partnered up with us, and that’s who we work for. We want to make racing more affordable for hometown tracks and weekly drivers.”
Along with oval tracks, the Contingency Connection also works with various other forms of motorsports, including road courses, drag strips, import, diesel, and motocross tracks. The Contingency Connection has a number of national manufactures on board, helping tracks and series to gain recognition from the prestigious companies.
The posted contingency awards will be distributed to AMP drivers in the form of $25 product certificates and $25 product packages. Winning racers receive their awards directly from the manufacturers within 30 days of their race win. AMP racers can win more money more often in our series than any other tour in the region.

Some of the best drivers in the state will assemble this coming racing season for the debut of the Arkansas Motorsport Professionals State Series late model tour. The sanctioning body was created as an alternative to out-of-state series, and an opportunity for late model fans in the state of Arkansas to see their favorite cars and drivers more than in past years.
The initial response to the AMP series has been very positive, and what started out as a projected ten-to-thirteen race schedule will possibly have dates added throughout the season. With the addition of sponsors such as Team GRT, Larry Shaw Race Cars, Kenny Morden Racing Products, Schoenfeld Headers, Race On Driving Experience, Contingency Connection, Kartways of Arkansas, MRW Wheels, New Vision Graphics, Mid-West Racing Apparel, Momar Chemical and Crown CD Duplications the series has also attracted several area late model veterans on board to compete in the debut season, along with a number of up-and-coming drivers and modified stars joining in on the action. With a roster of nearly 80 late model drivers committed to at least one event, the AMP State Series late models will undoubtedly be one of the most competitive series in the mid-south area.
The series has a guaranteed purse, along with the cost-efficient touring schedule. Centrally located tracks will keep traveling to a minimum for weekly drivers, and just as importantly bring back real late model racing to one of the most rabid fan bases in the country.
Along with a winner’s purse of $1,500 for each event, the AMP series is trying to go in a non- traditional route in payouts throughout the field. The event will be a base pay out of $200 to start, but a number of different contingency awards will give extra payouts, and/or free merchandise and prizes (gift certificates, etc.) for a number of races on the schedule. Those awards include hard charger, hard luck and highest-finishing rookie.
All of your favorite tracks in Arkansas have committed to running and supporting the AMP State Series tour, including I-30 Speedway, Beebe Speedway, Monticello, North Central Arkansas Speedway, 64 Speedway, Southwest Arkansas Speedway and West Siloam Speedway, with announcements on additional tracks forthcoming. The mix of quarter-mile and 3/8 tracks will give fans and drivers a variety of racing action, all without traveling hundreds or even thousands of miles to witness.
Drivers who are interested in running the AMP series can purchase yearly membership from now until Dec. 31 for $40, after that, it will be $50. Every driver that signs up will have a chance to win a free Snap-On jacket courtesy of Mike McNay of Stuttgart, Arkansas, valued at $200, and will also be eligible for the yearly driver point fund for the top finishers in season points. AMP is setting up the points fund for the series this season to help recover traveling and maintenance expenses.
AMP wants to hear from everyone, the fans, the drivers, the tracks, and the sponsors. We want to make the series the best of its kind in the region, and give the state of Arkansas the great late model series it truly deserves.
12/19/06 AMP Making History In Arkansas
The Start of AMP History of the series can be attributed to the registered teams, all of the marketing partnerships with some of the top companies in Arkansas and working relationships with many of the short tracks in the State.
The series will also pick up on a regular basis by many publications and continues to build new relationships daily.
The majority of the teams participate not only to compete, but also to perfect and develop their skills as professional drivers. To run the series, teams will visit a number of varied tracks with different speeds, sizes and banking. One of the top benefits to a team is the exposure in the dirt industry; teams have the eyes and ears of the racing world upon them and many will use this as a tool to launch their racing careers. The AMP State Series is a Regional Series, with excellent drivers and tremendous support from some of the largest companies in the racing industry.
