Alexander, Ark-- The Arkansas Motorsport Professionals late model series is proud to be once again one of only 60 tracks/series in the nation to be partnered up with the Contingency Connection. The Contingency Connection is in its 13th season of series marketing, with a concentration on the weekly grass-roots driver.
The primary function of the Contingency Connection is to help tracks and series build support, with marketing programs that draw attention and additional sponsorships, along with their impressive guarantee of $50,000 in posted contingency awards.
“We are simply a marketing arm for series and tracks,” says Jackie Ressa, president of JRB Marketing, Contingency Connection’s parent company. “The awards and money in racing typically go to drivers in high-profile series, but our plan has the grass-roots racer in mind. We have an elite group of tracks and series that are partnered up with us, and that’s who we work for. We want to make racing more affordable for hometown tracks and weekly drivers.”
Along with oval tracks, the Contingency Connection also works with various other forms of motorsports, including road courses, drag strips, import, diesel, and motocross tracks. The Contingency Connection has a number of national manufactures on board, helping tracks and series to gain recognition from the prestigious companies.
The posted contingency awards will be distributed to AMP drivers in the form of $25 product certificates and $25 product packages. Winning racers receive their awards directly from the manufacturers within 30 days of their race win. AMP racers can win more money more often in our series than any other tour in the region.

AMP Series under goes new Point System Race Format during 2008
To qualify for points, racers must of competed in 80% of all scheduled events.
Racers that run for AMP Series points that compete in 100% of scheduled events will receive $500.00 bonus at season ending awards banquet.
AMP Series 2008 point format
Drivers will draw for heat race line-up position at time of registration. The number of heat races run will be determined by the number of entries. Drivers will earn finishing points for their position at race's end, and passing points (1 1/2 per car) for each car passed.
The driver will receive points only for cars passed that take the green flag. A car that fails to start the race will not be considered passed.
The total of these two points will be used to determine qualifying for the Feature Race. The top 14 in passing points will qualify for the Feature race. The balance of the field will line up in one or two (depending on the number of entries) conciliation races that will transfer 4 cars to the feature to make a field of 18 and two provisional starters.
AMP will start 20 cars unless otherwise stated/posted at track.
Provisional Starters The highest-ranked two drivers in the top 15 in AMP points that fail to qualify for the feature will be added to the rear of the field with a promoter's option (if used). Alternates may be used to fill 20-car qualifying field. A driver must present a race ready competitive car at TECH in order to qualify for a provisional
Season Points Structure
1. Each 'A' Feature win is 40 points, with each subsequent position worth one point less, with 22nd position in feature worth 19 points. If more than 22 cars start feature, all positions from 22nd back receive 19 points. If track runs a 'B' feature(s), first non-transferring driver receives 18 points and each subsequent position, back to sixth position, receives one less point per position. Sixth position and back in 'B' feature(s) receive 13 points. This applies to all 'B', even if more than one is run.
2. Drivers that don't qualify for 'A' or 'B' feature will receive 13 points equal to a last position finish for a 'B' feature.
3. Heat race points are awarded as follows: 1st - 3 points; 2nd - 2 points; 3rd - 1 point.
4. Each driver will be able to drop 2 points nights for the season. These may be used for events that they do not attend or have mechanical failures, accidents, or simply poor finishes. All driver's final points will be based on the bases of all the AMP scheduled events (including co-sanctioned) - (minus) lowest two (2) points nights.
5. On nights that we are co-sanctioned, AMP drivers that sign in as AMP competitors will be award points in reference to only AMP competitors for that night. (Ex. We have drivers finish 1st-3rd-4th-7th-10th in the event, they will receive points for the 1st five positions for the evening. This will not affect the pay scale for the event.) Another example would be: In the event that we have only 10 AMP competitor qualifiers for the event, 11th place points would go to the first non-qualifier and so on. If 2 drivers have the same non-qualifying position in a 'B' Feature the high position would be awarded to the driver in the earlier 'B' Feature. Again, minimum points received for any night with driver signed as AMP Competitor will be 13 points.
6. ALL AMP members competing (100%) in ALL AMP Sanctioned and co-sanctioned events will be awarded $500 Bonus at the 2008 AMP Series Banquet.
Feature Race: AMP will start 20 cars unless other wise stated/ posted at tracks. Points breakdown (for up to 22 starters for 'A' Feature)
Each driver that finishes 6th or further back including those that have signed in, but unable to compete for the event will receive the 13 points for the evening.
Point Tie Breaker rules:
The points tie breaker for any position will revert to number of wins, and if still tied, then number of seconds, and so on until the tie has broken.
AMP Series 2008 Points Fund will be released in the upcoming weeks.
